BACKGROUND VOCALS

I have worked over three decades as a studio vocalist. My  session singing and/or vocal arranger credits include:

  • Lead and/or background vocals on thousands of jingles including United Airlines, Miller Beer, McDonalds, Kellogg’s, Chevrolet, Lay’s Potato Chips, Biz Bleach, Opryland.
  • Background vocalist on master albums, live shows and TV for hundreds of artists including Christa DeJarnett, Elvis Presley, Rick Dees, Carla Thomas, George Jones, Mel McDaniels, Ed Bruce, Johnny Cash, Janie Fricke, Tom Jones, Crystal Gail, Jerry Lee Lewis, Tom T. Hall, Brenda Lee, Ray Charles, Tammy Wynette, Lee Greenwood, Ann Peebles, Ray Stevens, Steve Wariner, Tanya Tucker, Johnny Paycheck, The Gatlin Brothers, Aaron Tippin, Dolly Parton, Reba, Wynonna and many others. She sang with legendary groups such as The Nashville Edition (with Hershel Wigginton), The Leah Jane Singers, The Jordinaires (when they added female vocalists to the group).   • Lead and background vocalist on thousands of demos for myself and other major songwriters.

CO-WRITING AND SONGS:

As I mentioned on the “Record Producer” page of this site, I frequently co-write with production clients. I also frequently co-write with great writers, whether or not I’m producing. Here are some of my credits:

  1. I have had my songs recorded by many artists including myself as artist, Loretta Lynn, Diamond Rio, Tammy Wynette & Wynonna, Randy Travis, Randy Koors, and LeAnn Rimes, Christa DeJarnett.
  2. I was awarded a BMI “Million-Air” award for more than a million radio plays of my #1 co-written song “One Way Ticket”, (recorded by LeAnn Rimes).
  3. I have song catalogs published by BMG, MCA, Warner/Chappell, Chrysalis Music, and now write multi-genre material for my own publishing company Favorable Wind Songs.
  4. Songwriter for rock musicals “Runaway Home- the Musical” and “We The People”
  5. Co-writers include songwriting giants such as Dave Loggins, Marc Beeson, Ronny Samoset, Jerry Foster, Karen Taylor-Good, Gene Nelson, Kurt Howell, Jimmy Scott, Barbara Orbison, Louise Goffin, and Ross Vannelli.

VOCAL LESSONS TO PREPARE FOR STUDIO LEADS:

I have developed a nationally recognized, trademarked method of vocal training called “Power, Path & Performance”. This method is proven best in practical application for studio and stage performance. I highly recommend taking vocal lessons after the tracking is done, and before the lead vocals are scheduled.
